  • Farm Management 800ha NE Victoria until the body gave out after 25 years
    • Sheep, cattle, cropping  pasture improvement, hay and irrigation
    • Built a 20ha irrigation lake for 50ha of irrigation, own earthmoving equipment
    • Lifted production four fold over this period
    • Modified or rebuilt much of the farming equipment to improve outcomes
    • During 82 drought built high efficiency shearing sheds
    • Developed a new system to graft walnut trees lifting graft rates from 20% to 90%
    • Pilot with Cessna 172D
    • General skills, trained sheep dogs and horses, built beach buggies and was a ski instructor (Mt Buller was an hour away.)
  • Aquaculture
    • Used the irrigation lake to produce Yabbies (fresh water crayfish)
    • Formed Australian Yabby Farms and exported to Europe and Asia
    • Designed and built an automated hatchery producing a million yabby juveniles/month
    • Developed a system for synchronising native fish breeding with the full moon and improved juvenile survival rates by over 500%
    • Over six years designed a $150m co-operative aquaculture vertically integrated project for four Pacific Nations, with common desk selling in the US, Asia and Europe. Funding evaporated with GFC
  • Peppermint and vegetables
    • Managed NE Victorian Peppermint industry from R&D to commercial production
    • Installed 300hp still, modified group farming equipment to suit peppermint production
    • Grew 100,000 cauliflowers and broccoli while promoting the local vegetable industry
    • Worked as a QA officer for a fabric manufacture company and packed porridge at Uncle Tobys to fund vegetable enterprise
  • Environment rehabilitation
    • Business Manager in Cairns for company specialising in environmental restoration
  • Cairns Businesses (with partner)
    • Provided training and coaching for Quality, Environmental and Safety auditing
    • Had businesses for website building, tele-marketing and promotions.
  • Communication Training
    • Trained over 1,000 community, corporate and indigenous participants to build their communication skills in PNG, QLD and NT.
    • Coached and mentored 70 TEDx speakers with TEDxJCU Cairns
    • Trained and mentored Papua New Guinea Toastmaster clubs for their first 2 years
    • David has been a Toastmaster since 2008 and also works with Improv comedy.
