Block Wall Shelters
Block wall shelters are often used in the agriculture and quarry industries, as a way to store bulk produce, and withstand the force of the products and front end loaders when retrieving the goods. The last photo shows a precast wall for a higher shelter to enable tip trucks to unload under the shelter.
The value of block wall shelters
Block wall shelters a relatively simple to construct and they may have application on the boundary of a property, or where damage could occur to a lighter fabric or iron clad wall. They have also been used in car parks, where having a highly visible wall reduces potential accidents. In this situation posts can be hard to see, especially when a vehicle is backing and turning at the same time.
The height of the block wall can be varied to suit the application. In some situations where extra height is required for trucks tipping product a tilt-slab or poured formwork wall may be a more suitable option.
The shelters are secured by universal steel "U" saddles that are placed over the concrete blocks and secured to them. This make the dome structure installation a fast and simple process.
In sites where excavating holes for piers for posts is difficult, then the block walls can act as ballast to hold the structure down. Footing strength will be dictated by the likely lateral loads that the stored product will inflict.
The Allshelter range includes shelters 6m, 8m, 10m, 12,m 14m, 17m wide
