Post Mounted Dome Buildings

Post mounted dome buildings can be used for a variety of purposes. Posts do need to be embedded firmly in the ground as with a single cord arch there is less strength where the arch meets the top of the post. This can be negated with the posts with braces that can be bolted directly to a suitable slab. The initial photo is of a 12year old shelter at Cape Flattery in the far North of Queensland that was hit with a cyclone. The frame was undamaged and we replaced the cover and had it looking like new. The structures below are from the Allshelter range

Post mounted structures, are useful in confined areas, or where only a roof is required.

Post mounted dome buildings that have the posts cemented into the ground, tend to be for permanent structures. Large base plates can be used if the slab has the thickness, 200mm+ or has been engineered to enable the posts to be bolted to the slab with Chemset bolts.

The alternate is to use the posts with external braces which spread the load and can be bolted to the slab in most cases.

It is not unusual to have containers on one side and posts on the other, or to have beams extending 6m or more from the containers that are supported by posts. Posts give you the flexibility to have your structure fit the constraints of your site.
