Ground Mounted Fabric Structures

Ground Mounted Fabric Structures are often used in agriculture, aviation and for temporary buildings. They are mounted directly to the ground using piers or a beam secured to a concrete slab. If you are curious as to the difference between permanent and temporary building engineering requirements they can be found at the ABCD Standards website.

The ground mounted structures are also suitable for permanent structures with pictures below of the Bundaberg Port facility that is used for various materials from woodchips to grain. It weathered a cyclone without damage where as the traditional building next to it sustained damage.

The structures at Mount Isa were for unloading 2 BQuads, a truck with 4 trailers, at a time, in each of the 2 shelters.  Previously the trucks were unload in the open, on a gravel pad, often in very high temperatures. This caused a very high staff turnover with the forklift drivers. Dust in Mount Isa is also prone to lead contamination and health risks. In the wet weather pallets were rushed into the main building, leading to multi handling and inefficiencies. The combination of the above gave a quick return on investment for the client.

There are a few photos of our early hangars, when people ask me when did I start installing shelter I would say "Well we did one for the Wright Bros Plane :)" We provided five hangars for the Avalon Airshow, the others were for the aerobatic teams.

The final photo of the Bajool main storage which was built very early in the life of Allshelter, and is massive and filled with ammonium nitrate, for the mining expolosives industry. Definitely a no smoking area.
